The Veils - Nux Vomica

The Veils – Nux Vomica
Rough Trade, 2006
Acquired: Love Garden Blowout Location, New, 2009
Price: $1 (originally $35)

I won't lie, I bought this specifically because it was originally $35 and I thought I might be able to sell it down the line. I have never heard the Veils until just now and I can say this: they're OK. The record packaging might be better than the record, though. It comes on glorious white vinyl and the cover art is really interesting all around, but the music just sounds like some British hype band with a warbly voiced singer. He sings with passion though, and the record often goes from zero to Jarvis Cocker in seconds. It's a good record, but not one I could see obsessing over. Maybe it's just that I'm under the opinion that most brit-rock is the same. It's not a diss, because most American-rock is the same. It's just music in general I guess. Essentially, I enjoyed listening to this record but I couldn't tell you what a single song sounded like. And at $3.50 a song, I don't think it's worth it. But at ten cents a song, I can dig! Granted, it's pry worth a little more than that. Maybe that would be a thing to do, add up an album's relative worth. This one is pry worth $4, rough estimate.
